Ja, ich sitze in der Kanal C Redaktion und habe eine Sängerin dieses Mal aus Augsburg zu Gast. Lillian Hampson. Schön, dass du da bist.

Hallo, danke für die Einladung.

Sehr gerne. Ist ja natürlich auch aktuell ganz gut mit dir zu sprechen. Du hast ja eine neue Single rausgebracht, *Keep On* heißt die. Was steckt da dahinter?

Bei *Keep On* steckt dahinter ja eigentlich ein neuer Drum and Bass Song. Ich feiere Drum and Bass selber sehr und deswegen hatte ich irgendwie Bock einen zu machen. Und The Artist, auch bekannt als Sedat, war da wie auch bei *Was passiert* mit am Start. Und genau, so viel ist jetzt mal zu *Keep On* und bis jetzt bin ich auf jeden Fall total zufrieden, was die Leute für ein Feedback mir gegeben haben und sehr dankbar für die Möglichkeit. Und jetzt gucke ich mal in Richtung, was als nächstes so passiert.

Du hast ja gerade schon angesprochen, dass du beim Stil eine gewisse Vorstellung hattest. Was hast du denn an dem Song alles selbst gemacht? Hast du den auch selber geschrieben?

*Keep On* habe ich selber geschrieben, genau. Aber es war auch ein Prozess. Also zusammen mit Sedat ist er auch zusammen irgendwie entstanden. Wir haben zusammen Melodien, zusammen nochmal Texte und neu umfunktioniert und es ist immer mega schön, wenn man im Studio so harmoniert und dann was entsteht. Also Musik ist ja auch eine Entstehung und deswegen ist auf jeden Fall auch zusammen was entstanden.

Ja, ist ja ein Augsburger Projekt. Bist du gebürtig aus Augsburg?

Gebürtig bin ich aus Augsburg, würde ich sagen, ja, aus Augsburg. Bin aber in Großbritannien in England geboren, an der Grenze zu Schottland und dadurch meine britischen Wurzeln und deswegen singe ich teilweise englische Texte, aber auch deutsche Texte, weil ich mich irgendwie mit beiden sehr befasse.

Fällt dir also beides auch nicht besonders schwer wahrscheinlich. Wo ziehst du deine Einflüsse her? Gibt es da Musik, die du sehr gerne hörst und wo du sagst, das ist eigentlich schon vielleicht was, woran ich mich wirklich orientiere bei meiner eigenen Mucke?

Ja, also früher natürlich bei sehr großen und berühmten Artists wie irgendwie Adele, wo ich auch als Musikerin und als Sängerin vor allen Dingen sehr beeindruckend fand. Aber mittlerweile bin ich gerade so ein bisschen eher so auf den Locals. Also ich finde, Augsburg bietet ganz, ganz viel gute und bewundernswerte Musik. Z. B. Josie Tscheci. Da gibt es wirklich richtig, richtig viele gute Künstler*innen und ich finde, da kann man auch schon ganz viel draus ziehen und mitnehmen. Und das Coole ist, dass in Augsburg auch die Vernetzung relativ einfach ist und somit sich viele Menschen kennenlernen dürfen und das finde ich sehr cool an Augsburg.

Wir sind ja vorher hier reingekommen. Da hast du schon erzählt, eine EP ist geplant. Verrat mal, was hast du da konkret vor?

Ja, vielleicht möchte ich auch noch gar nicht zu viel verraten, aber prinzipiell möchte ich vielleicht ein bisschen in ein anderes Genre gehen. Bis jetzt habe ich ja sehr viel Electronic-Techno-Vibes, Pop-Vibes mit reingebracht und ich glaube, wie viele von uns sind wir sehr begeistert auch von Indie und ja, also ich muss sagen, ich muss mich auch noch ein bisschen finden. Die EP steht ja auch noch nicht, deswegen man hat ja immer so eine Idee, wie die EP ausschauen soll und ob die dann am Ende auch so aussieht. Das ist dann meistens oft immer noch ganz anders. Aber auf meinem Instagram kann man auf jeden Fall schon sehen, dass ich den Song *Waves* in Portugal, den ich in Portugal geschrieben habe, also auf jeden Fall als erstes gern im Studio aufnehmen würde und der ist bis jetzt eher so ein ruhigerer Song mit einer Gitarre und da würde ich jetzt gerne Live-Instrumentals reinspielen. Kann aber sein, dass er im Endeffekt dann auch wieder sehr elektronisch wird, weil er dann irgendwie einen anderen Vibe bekommt. Also ich lasse mich da auch ein bisschen überraschen und inspirieren, auch von meinen Produzenten, mit denen ich dann zusammenarbeiten darf.

Wir haben jetzt ganz viel über deine Musik gesprochen. Mich würde ein bisschen interessieren, wie so deine Anfänge waren. Du hast ja erzählt, du machst schon lange Musik. Wann hat das bei dir denn so angefangen und ja, was hat dich denn überhaupt dazu gebracht, auch Musik zu machen?

Das ist auf jeden Fall eine gute Frage. Ja, ich mache schon wirklich sehr lange Musik. Also irgendwie in der Grundschule hat damals meine Lehrkraft eben zu meiner Mama gesagt, dass sie unbedingt ein Gespräch braucht und sie hat halt gedacht: “Oh, die Lilian ist so schlecht in Mathe, jetzt gibt es halt bestimmt einen auf den Deckel.” Aber die hat tatsächlich in einer Band gespielt, die Frau Rasshofer, vielleicht hört sie das ja dann. Und die hat halt damals gesagt: “Boah, ihre Tochter braucht unbedingt Gesangsunterricht.” Und da hat meine Mama mich in Städten in der Musikschule irgendwie zum Gesangsunterricht gebracht und zum Musical und dann habe ich da so ein bisschen meine Leidenschaft gefunden. Und jetzt wohne ich eben seit ein paar Jahren in Augsburg und in Augsburg ist natürlich eine Vernetzung viel größer als auf dem Dorf und ich bin da jetzt schon echt lange dran. Und ich würde sagen, 2024 war das erste Jahr, wo ich wirklich sehr viele Menschen kennenlernen durfte, eben zwei Songs released habe und wahnsinnig viele neue Erfahrungen hatte und super super dankbar bin. Und jetzt bin ich einfach nur super gespannt, was 2025 auf mich zukommt. Und ja, genauso bin ich schon ein bisschen dazu gekommen.

Hast du dir da konkret was vorgenommen?

Ja, also ich habe ja schon vorhin kurz angesprochen, dass ich prinzipiell jetzt irgendwie Bookings selber mache. Und aber falls es jemand hört und Bock hat, meine Bookings zu machen oder mein Management, kann er mir gerne auf Instagram schreiben, was es natürlich auch eine Aufgabe ist. Aber ja, ich habe mich jetzt mal auf ein Modular beworben und auf dem Singoldsand und diese Locals, wo halt sehr coole Sachen sind. Und da schaue ich jetzt mal. Es gibt ja auch die coole Localbühne und vielleicht entsteht da ja die ein oder andere Möglichkeit, mich da auch als Künstlerin zu zeigen.

Was machst du denn so, wenn du nicht auf der Bühne stehst?

Ich bin Erzieherin und arbeite in einem ganz wunderbaren Montessori-Kindergarten als Gruppenleitung. Und deswegen ist mein Job sehr vielseitig. Einerseits halt mit Kindern arbeiten und andererseits mit der Musik. Ist natürlich 40-Stunden-Woche plus Musik ist auch eine Challenge. Aber bis jetzt meistere ich das ganz gut, würde ich sagen. Also das ist auf jeden Fall eine super krasse Leidenschaft, auch mit Kindern zu arbeiten.

Wenn man jetzt auf deine Musik so zurückblickt, du hast ja schon angesprochen, dass du ein bisschen Veränderungen drin hast. Wie würdest du denn deine Musik jetzt von Anfang an beschreiben? Wie hast du dich denn da entwickelt? Wie lief die Reise da?

Ich glaube, viele Ups and Downs und Hin und Her. Und man meint dann irgendwie, sich als Künstlerin gefunden zu haben und dann geht man doch in eine ganz andere Richtung. Und ich glaube, das ist aber auch das Schöne an Musik machen, dass ja, Musik ist ja auch, also sind ja auch Momente, die man lebt. Und vielleicht habe ich jetzt *Waves* in Portugal im August geschrieben, wo ich mich so gefühlt habe und dann im Winter mich aber ganz anders fühlen. Und dann werde ich vielleicht auch in eine andere Musikrichtung gehen oder ein anderes Genre, weil ich mich einfach anders ausdrücken möchte. Und ich glaube, das ist ja auch das Ziel von jeder Künstlerin oder von jedem Künstler, da in dem Moment irgendwie auch authentisch zu sein. Also es ist auf jeden Fall ein Ziel von mir. Und wenn ich mich eben 2024 so fühle und 2025 so fühle, dann ist es für mich voll fein, auch zwei verschiedene Genres einzugehen.

Absolut. Jetzt hast du relativ viel auch gesprochen über Bookings und wo man dich finden kann. Du hast dein Instagram oft angesprochen, aber du hast jetzt noch die Möglichkeit zu sagen, wie du da heißt, weil wenn sich jemand jetzt unter unseren Hörer*innen befindet, der da Bock drauf hat, dann findet er dich wo?

Ja, unter Lilian Hampson, also ist mein Künstlername und auf Instagram heiße ich *Lilian Music* und dann so ein Unterstrich. Genau. Und da bin ich echt voll offen für Kooperationen, für Leute, die Bock haben, einfach für Vernetzung und freue mich auf jede Nachricht.

Yes, I’m sitting in the Kanal C editorial office and this time I have a singer from Augsburg as my guest. Lillian Hampson. Nice to have you here.
Hello, thank you for the invitation.
It’s my pleasure. It’s great to talk to you now, especially since you’ve just released a new single called Keep On. What’s behind it?
Keep On is essentially a new drum and bass song. I’m a big fan of drum and bass myself, so I was eager to create one. And The Artist, also known as Sedat, was involved, just like with Was passiert. That’s pretty much what Keep On is about, and so far, I’m really happy with the feedback I’ve received and very grateful for the opportunity. Now I’m looking forward to what’s coming next.

You’ve already hinted that you had a specific vision for the style. What exactly did you do for the song? Did you write it yourself?
Yes, I wrote Keep On myself. But it was a process. The song was also developed together with Sedat. We worked on melodies and lyrics together, restructured some things, and it’s always amazing when you harmonise in the studio and something new emerges. Music is a creation process, after all, and this was definitely a collaborative effort.

It’s an Augsburg-based project. Are you originally from Augsburg?
I would say I’m originally from Augsburg, yes. But I was born in Great Britain, in England, near the Scottish border. So I have British roots, which is why I sing both English and German lyrics, as I feel connected to both.

So neither comes particularly difficult to you, I imagine. Where do you draw your influences from? Are there artists you admire and look to for inspiration for your own music?
In the past, I was inspired by big and famous artists like Adele, who I’ve always found very impressive as a musician and singer. But nowadays, I’m more drawn to local artists. I think Augsburg has a lot of amazing and admirable music to offer. For example, Josie Tscheci and many other great artists. I think there’s a lot to learn and draw from there. And the cool thing about Augsburg is that networking is relatively easy, so people get to meet each other, which I think is great.

When we came in earlier, you mentioned you’re planning an EP. Can you share a bit more about that?
Well, I don’t want to give away too much just yet, but I’m thinking about exploring a different genre. So far, my music has incorporated a lot of electronic, techno, and pop vibes. But like many others, I’m also fascinated by indie music. I’m still in the process of figuring things out. The EP isn’t finalised yet. You often have an idea of what an EP should look like, but in the end, it can turn out completely different. On my Instagram, you can already see that I’d like to record the song Waves, which I wrote in Portugal, in the studio first. It’s currently a calmer song with a guitar. But it might become more electronic in the end if it gets a different vibe. I’m keeping myself open to surprises and inspiration from the producers I’ll work with.

We’ve talked a lot about your music. I’d love to hear about your beginnings. You’ve mentioned that you’ve been making music for a long time. When did it all start, and what led you to make music?
That’s a good question. I’ve been making music for a very long time. Back in primary school, my teacher told my mum that she needed to talk to her urgently. My mum thought it was about how bad I was at maths, and she was expecting a scolding. But the teacher, Frau Rasshofer (maybe she’s listening), was actually in a band herself. She said, “Your daughter absolutely needs singing lessons.” So, my mum took me to the local music school for singing lessons and musicals. That’s when I discovered my passion. I’ve been living in Augsburg for a few years now. Networking here is much better than in the countryside. 2024 was the first year where I met a lot of new people, released two songs, gained a lot of new experiences, and I’m incredibly grateful. I’m excited to see what 2025 has in store for me.

Do you have any specific goals for the future?
Yes, as I mentioned earlier, I currently handle my own bookings. But if anyone listening would like to manage my bookings or help with my management, they’re welcome to reach out to me on Instagram. I’ve applied for events like Modular and Singoldsand. These local events are really cool, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed. Augsburg also has a great local stage scene, and I hope opportunities will arise to showcase myself as an artist.

What do you do when you’re not on stage?
I’m a teacher and work as a group leader at a wonderful Montessori kindergarten. My job is very diverse—working with children on one hand and focusing on music on the other. Managing a 40-hour workweek plus music is definitely a challenge, but I think I’m handling it well. I’m really passionate about working with children.

Looking back at your music, you mentioned incorporating some changes. How would you describe your journey and development as an artist?
It’s been a journey of many ups and downs. Sometimes you think you’ve found your sound as an artist, but then you head in a completely different direction. That’s the beauty of making music—it’s about living in the moment. For example, I wrote Waves in Portugal in August because that’s how I felt at the time. But by winter, I might feel completely different and lean towards another genre. I think the goal for any artist is to be authentic in the moment. For me, it’s perfectly fine to explore two different genres if that’s how I feel in 2024 versus 2025.
